FFXIV London Fanfest!

10/27/2014

Hello dudes and dudettes!

I wanted to share with you the great experience I had at the first FFXIV London Fan Fest!
It was so wonderful, to see all these people who love the game enjoy so many great activities from the game... in real life! It makes my eyes tear a little, just thinking about it.

I had the wonderful opportunity to work at the cosplay registration and see all the wonderful cosplay entries we had for the competition!

Here's a short video I made of the 30 finalists at the registration room:

It's not perfect, but I'm sure they'll get better in the future ^^'

Here's a lovely gallery of most of them as well.(✪㉨✪)

I had great time registering everyone for the competition. After I was done doing this I changed into my yukata to join the cosplay fun! It was wonderful. I was cheering for the guys from front row. I was particularly impressed with this Vanya White Mage Mi'quote:

Her cat ears moved and her staff glowed in different colours, which was amazing! I love her outfit.

The winner of the competition was absolutely amazing as well. It was a lovely lady who originally created this costume for her daughter, who was adorable, running in the outfit all day long. Sadly, the competition is for 16+ only so she decided to enter it with her daughters costume. It's brilliant how it fits both of them and it's actually made out of their old cushions! There's lovely detail to it:

After the cosplay competition was over we had a small break in which I had some time to go around and see the whole venue with actual people inside. I only had the chance to do that early in the morning before everyone else was in. It was great to see people having so much fun! Then it was time for the awesome Primals concert!!! Soken really never disappoints. They had a lovely vocalist for the Shiva, Garuda and Ramuh themes as well, you can find her twitter here.

It was amazing, I've never really had the time to enjoy these songs as much as I did then, as most of the time when I'm listening to them I'm trying to concentrate on how not to die and what to do, so that the whole team doesn't die

After the concert I went backstage to take a picture with Pentland and I happened to carry a polaroid camera that we used in the cosplay registration with a few spare polaroids left in and I thought it would be cool to have a polaroid taken together. I had a small surprise waiting for me, when the photo finally developed:

We got Koji-bombed! It was hilarious. I'm in love with this picture now!

Everyone was extremely exhausted after the show. I hope they all had a well-deserved rest now. I hope everyone knows how hard the whole team is working to make everyone so happy! I'm glad to have been able to help everyone to ease up the amount of work (hopefully)image

After the show I met up with other people from my server (Phoenix). We played some Cards against Humanity, it was loads of fun and then before we know it it was almost midnight and people had to go.

Fan Fest was truly amazing. I can't describe with words how happy it makes me to see all these people who love the same thing so much gather together and have a great time, while socialising in real life. It gives a whole new dimension to an online game. I wish I had this 5 years ago when I was playing MMOs. Back then, I never thought, even for a second that I'll one day meet these people in real life. image

Things are going in a good direction!

Thank you Square Enix. Thank you Yoshida-san.

Gaming Thursday: Disbear...disbear.. DANGANRONPA 2!

9/04/2014

Hello dudes and dudettes,
PIXEL - Tea Cup by iCha-iCha-ParadiSe

It's time to talk about DIS BEAR:

(upupupupu)

And also, despair..

Yes, it's that time of the year - Danganronpa 2 just came out and as a good student completionist I decided to use this opportunity to finish the first game properly. So I haven't actually started playing 2 yet, but I got it with the artbook. パンダ のデコメ絵文字

I also got this little keychain from Japan - isn't it adorable?

As some of you may already know, I'm a huge fan of 999 and Virtue's Last Reward and this is like it's little evil, dark and gloomy twin with a really sick sense of humour. It's brilliant!

I do love those dark puzzles with wicked humour, pink blood and plot twists you never see coming! It's kind of like Game of Thrones, but better. Maybe.

If you still have no idea what I'm talking about, I highly suggest you go to the PSN store on your Vita and check out Danganronpa, as it's currently on sale to celebrate the release of the second game.
As for the second game, if you're in Europe there's a great deal right over HERE for £27 (£10+ cheaper than PSN) and if you're not lazy please use google to find yourself a voucher for 10% off. You're welcome.

What games are you playing this month? Any releases that you're excited about?

I was really looking forward to Shin Megami Tensei IV, but sadly that got pulled for October.

While on the subject of SMT, earlier this week there was the official trailer/teaser for Persona 5, which is coming out next year for PS3 and PS4! I am so excited I actually may have spent hours recreating that last scene from the trailer:

(no regrets)

It'll be a great year for games!

Gaming Thursday: Decisions, decisions...

8/28/2014

Hello dudes and dudettes,
imageimageimageimageimageimageimageimageimageimageimageimageimageimage

In today's gaming Thursday I wanted to share my pain and suffering, because of choices in games. I'm the kind of person who always wants to make the best choice with the most profit - in everything. But if I have to choose between two equally good things (chocolate cake or strawberry cake?) or two equally bad things (end of the world by nuclear bombs or zombie apocalypse?) - I'm just stuck. And then I feel instant regret no matter what I choose.

...when it's the good kind of choice I usually go for both though. Especially if it's cakes.

But games like Witcher, Mass Effect, Dragon Age and any TellTale game makes me feel guilty for my choices and puts me under so much pressure I just can't make a decision without feeling instant regret or curiosity ('WHAT IF I chose the other thing?').

That's why I keep replaying the games for eternity. I see what you did there, game devs.

I remember the first time I had to choose if I should sacrifice the council in Mass Effect, then between Kaidan and Ashley (which I both hate, so whatever). Or Witcher 2 between the Scoia'tael or Roche. Really big and difficult decisions, which change the game completely. So I keep replaying to see what happens in each situation. Do you guys do that?

Even when it doesn't affect the story, like Persona games, I still replay it to get different relationships and scenarios. I feel like I haven't completed the game if I haven't seen every possible dialogue.

A little bit off-track, but I've started using LINE again recently. I really love this app for some odd reason. I love how you can follow celebrities (especially kpop bands) which constantly send you news about what they're doing, with pictures and videos. I think there should be more apps that do that - keeping you up to date with things via media messages. It's genius. Also I can't say no to cute stickers. Are you guys using LINE? Here's my QR code if you'd like to add me. Or my ID is koriandrr:

Hope you have a great Friday

Gaming Thursday: I am Groot, the Witcher Edition.

8/21/2014

Hello there dudes and dudettes,

I actually wanted to sum up the last month for gaming/films/geeky stuff in this post, since I've been away, but there's so much happening I don't even know how to put it all in one post, so I'll just feature the most exciting things.

Like Guardians of the Galaxy!!! Holy shit guys did you watch it?!?! I saw it TWICE and going for a third time when it comes out on Blueray. I LOVE this film. And I am also extremely proud of my amazing boyfriend for working on it!

Also, if you haven't read the reboot of the comics form last year - you should! It's amazing. And it has Iron Man (and Gamorra is a little bit less amused and more bad-ass).

Another thing that I've been extremely hyped about, especially after GamesCom is The Witcher: Wild Hunt. I swear, them Polish CDPR sure know how to please the RPG fans. I can see myself easily spending hundreds of hours in this game. If you haven't seen the 35min gameplay on youtube yet, check it out!

Of course the biggest talk of the internet has been P.T. - the Silent Hills Playable Teaser. I have to admit, the IDEA itself is amazing, I hope that in the future more developers create a playable teaser, instead of a flashy trailer with no actual gameplay. It really made me happy just to see this exist and be successful - the whole anticipation and mystery around it. Especially when it's a creepy ass horror game like that - it really works. The less you know, the more scared you get. And that Teaser was just intense, I mean, how did these people who finished it first even know what to do?!?! I don't have a PS4 yet, waiting for xmas sales, but I watched all the playthroughs on youtube I could find and I almost crapped my pants.

(brr soo creepy... I screamed a lot)

Good News Everyone! Doctor Who is coming back this weekend and this time the Doctor is not the nice and quirky guy you know! ...or that's what they said. I was a little bit disappointed with the latest Doctor Who, it was a tiny bit too Disney for my tastes. I'm hoping it was missing that Scottish spunk that Tennant brought into it and now we have a new Scott to bring it back

I also have a new addition to my MUST-HAVE wishlist:

Isn't it the most adorable zergling you've ever seen? Now I want an army of it, so I can zerg rush people with cuteness.

One of the hyped games on GamesCom was Life is Strange, which is something we're publishing at Square Enix and I've been lucky enough to play a little and watch people play. I have to say I'm in love with the game. It has a very unique feel to it and the characters are amazing. Can't wait to play more!

There was actually an awesome meeting room at GamesCom designed after the room in the game - a teenage bedroom with the american flag, all messy and all.  Here's a picture:

The cool part is that people had to sit on the bed and on the floor to play the game.
