(Late) Tuesday Skincare: My Morning Routine, Men's Evening Routine

6/25/2014

Hey dudes and dudettes!

As promised, I have some special things for you this week. A little bit late Skincare Tuesday, apologies about that, there will be some PC Master Race porn tomorrow for Gaming Thursday plus my very own, first vlog on youtube! I can't wait image

The special thing about today is that I'm not only going to show MY morning skincare routine, but also a Night routine for MEN. How considerate am I? The reason it's a nightly and not morning routine for men is because, naturally, men use less skincare cosmetics than women, but it's still something necessary from my perspective. A splash of water is absolutely sufficient in the morning routine of brushing your teeth and possibly shaving (shame on you!). Aftershave is actually really good for the skin, but could be extremely drying sometimes. The routine I've made is for Dennis (my boyfriend) and he has naturally dry skin, but I'm confident it will easily work with all skin types, as men cosmetics are quite broad and less tightly specialised like female ones. image

I will do everything in my power to update my vlog once a week, but I am still very new to all of this, so just getting the hang of it, it'll take sometime until i'm more confident doing it and take less time with editing.

My morning routine is the standard wash-toner-serum-moisturiser, you can never go wrong with classics, but I'll share the products I'm using, as it took me years to find the perfect combination of products. Speaking of which, I'm actually at the end of my moisturiser and weekly mask, so I just ordered these products that I'm really looking forward to:

These are the products that I'm waiting on. I've heard REALLY good things about them and can't wait to try them myself. Especially that Sulwhasoo mask, as it's an actual peel-off mask and I love the feeling of those masks, drying on your skin and then when you peel them off.....

My Morning Skincare Routine:
1. Wash your face. Don't rub the water in your skin, just splash it gently as many times as you have to.

You can tap it gently with your hands after, for the water to be absorbed into your skin.

2. Dry your face with a special face-only towel by tapping it gently, NOT RUBBING. I have a small face towel, 500gsm and I change it twice weekly. I do not use this towel for anything else other than my face.

3. TONER! Apply with a cotton pad gently from the nose outwards towards the cheekbones, from the chin towards the cheekbones and from your T-zone towards your cheekbones. In-to-out.

4. Serum! This is a step where you can use a serum specialised for what you need. Could be for acne-prone skin, acne scarring, vitamin E, vitamin C - whatever your skin needs. I personally use two types of serums, I use one in the morning, one in the evening, doesn't matter in what order. Both of them are for evening out colour, as I have acne scars and red circles on my face that I'm trying to get rid of. One of them is also rich on AHA and BHA which helps with acne.

5. Moisturiser! I believe that even if you have oily skin you need to use moisturiser at least once daily, preferably in the morning, before sunscreen and make-up. As I mentioned above I am waiting on my new evening water sleeping masks, to replace my current moisturiser, as it's literally at its end. It served me well!

Bonus, things I use 1-2 times weekly:

Men Evening Skincare Routine:

Steps 1&2 are the same as above. Same rules apply, don't be lazy and get a face towel. Don't be rough on your skin. No, it has nothing to do with your manliness level.

3. Cleanser! I picked this cleanser, because it's quite multifunctional, it's gentle to the skin and it smells manly. It does a lot of things that most women use separate products for. What I like most about men products is that they're all '3 in 1'; '5 in 1'; '12 in 1'; My guess is because men don't want to use like 10 things every day for their skin or waste 30min doing it. Fair enough.

3. Toner! It can be used as aftershave too! Nifty, huh?

4. Moisturiser. This is the one I would recommend getting, it's not my picture, as we don't own it. Dennis has a special doctor-prescribed moisturiser that he uses, as his skin is really dry. If you have really dry or extra oily skin I recommend going to the doc as well.

Bonus: Cleansing wipes! Those are really cool if you live in a big, dirty city or if you work outside and get a lot of that nasty polluted air and dirt in your face. At the end of the day, or whenever you want for that matter, the wipes are quite portable and can be carried around, just use a wipe on your face and look at all that dirt go off. HOWEVER, don't get too lazy and use just the wipes instead of the steps above. I know it can be very tempting, but trust me - it is not the same thing.

I hope you found this helpful! If you have any questions or need recommendations, please let me know in the comments below.
